Series | Peer-facilitated Career Exploration

Dr. Cépeda has developed and managed learning, training and advising programs for graduate students and postdoctoral trainees spanning STEM, medicine, the arts, humanities and social sciences. Since 2019, Cépeda has co-developed training materials for the PhD Career Ladders Program, a peer-facilitated career exploration model founded by students at Stony Brook University and competitively selected for the pd|hub Collection: Foundations of Career Exploration for PhD Scientists. Cépeda has published articles on teaching, gender bias in higher education, and career development for advanced degree-holders. Through national leadership roles such as the Junior Chair of the Committee on Gender Equity in Linguistics of the Linguistic Society of America and the International Officer of the National Postdoctoral Association International Taskforce, Cépeda advocates for policies and interventions to retain and engage individuals with identities underrepresented in academia (in particular, women, Latinx and LGBTQ-identifying scholars) and to educate international trainees about their academic and career mobility options. Cépeda holds a doctorate in Linguistics from Stony Brook University. Cépeda is currently Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Washington University in St. Louis and a Visiting Scholar of Linguistics at Stony Brook University.
