During and prior to her years as a Fellow of the pd|hub Collection, Foundations of Career Exploration, Ms. Venkatesh served in leadership positions spanning Stanford University, the Life Design Lab, The New School for Social Research, and the University of Michigan, aiming to help people explore the depths of their past, embrace curiosity about their present lives, and find delight in possible futures. Over years, Venkatesh developed, honed, and trained others in utilizing a storytelling framework for guiding students from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines to define their own career narratives. Venkatesh applied this storytelling framework to career exploration, developing a model competitively selected to be part of the pd|hub Collection: Foundations of Career Exploration for PhD Scientists. Venkatesh’s 20+ year career in higher education began as a labor organizer for graduate teachers, and moved to roles spanning curriculum design, faculty development, career services for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars, and teaching life design to students, staff, and faculty across multiple institutions across the globe. Venkatesh is particularly committed to the professional and wellbeing needs of historically marginalized populations, particularly first-generation and low-income students, international students, and non-traditional students. Venkatesh holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of California Berkeley and a master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Michigan.
