Stakeholder Workshop

On July 11-12, 2019, we convened 50 individuals representing nine different types of stakeholder groups that interact with the career and professional development of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in the sciences. In a series of small-group conversations, participants discussed the needs, challenges, and solutions for enhancing the dissemination of evidence-based practices in the career and professional development of STEM trainees. Each participant brought their unique perspective, expertise, energy, and creativity to the table. We have an exciting opportunity to leverage the energy from participants and other interested members of the community to move forward actionable next steps that will support the change already beginning in doctoral and postdoctoral education.

We are developing a report of the workshop, expected to be released in 2020. This workshop was made possible with support from the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, along with Burroughs Wellcome Fund, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and UMass Chan Medical School.
