pd|hub leads workshop for faculty at Discover BMB 2024

Date Posted: jueves, marzo 21, 2024

Join us on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00pm CT at the annual meeting for the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at #DiscoverBMB in San Antonio, where we will be presenting a workshop, “Integrating inclusive, evidence-based practices into your training programs and mentorship to support career development”.

A lack of inclusive and equitable support for career development has been linked to the mental health crisis in graduate education and to the loss of individuals from historically marginalized groups from science. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies for training programs and faculty mentors to better support students and postdocs in their career exploration, career planning and use of individual development plans in the context of what has been learned via the pd|hub Collections. We will focus on evidence-based approaches, specifically strategies that enhance inclusive and identity-conscious practices, being used in educational models that are part of the NIGMS-funded, ASBMB-supported pd|hub Collection: Foundations of Career Exploration for PhD Scientists and now being implemented at organizations and institutions across the country.

If you are interested in learning more and reflecting on your own practices for supporting career development, we hope to see you there!
