Bill Lindstaedt has been an administrator and career counselors focusing on career development issues for doctoral level trainees in the sciences for more than 20 years. As Assistant Vice Chancellor for Career Advancement, International and Postdoctoral Services at University of California, San Francisco, he manages a group of services known as Career Advancement, International and Postdoctoral Services (CAIPS). Collectively, the group's mission is to facilitate successful health sciences and life sciences careers worldwide. In addition to providing direct services to UCSF's students and scholars, CAIPS creates innovative professional development interventions, studies their effectiveness, reports on and disseminates their outcomes. Bill is a co-author of Science Magazine's myIDP, a free career development tool designed to help research scientists take charge of their careers. myIDP has been used by more than 200,000 scientists and is recommended by dozens of graduate and postdoc programs around the country.
