pd|hub welcomes the 2024-2025 cohort of pd|hub Collections Implementation Sites

Date Posted: Tuesday, May 07, 2024

We are delighted to welcome twenty teams as our second cohort of Implementation Sites for the pd|hub Collection: Foundations of Career Exploration for PhD Scientists. We are looking forward to supporting these organizations as they adapt and implement evidence-based approaches from this Collection to enhance their program’s professional development for their graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

These twenty Sites represent a wide variety of universities and organizations, with diverse geographical representation across the country. Some have prior experience facilitating support for career exploration, and others are new to these types of models. Commonalities include a desire to try new approaches, contribute to national understanding of these interventions, and be part of a national cohort of colleagues working toward shared goals.

As pd|hub partners, Implementation Sites receive comprehensive support for their implementation, such as detailed implementation guides with annotated lesson plans; training in key areas, such as inclusive facilitation practices; and ongoing expert consultations within a community of practice guided by Fellows of the Collection. Implementation Sites are also valued partners in growing knowledge about how these practices work in different contexts and outcomes for student and postdoctoral participants.

The training series that the Implementation Sites began this week is designed to build on the diverse expertise of our selected Sites. Virtual training sessions are scheduled throughout May and June, along with a two-day in-person training session held adjacent to the Graduate Career Consortium Annual Conference in Philadelphia on June 24th and June 25th. These initial trainings, coupled with discussions scheduled for later in the year, will explore theories and data that support understanding of the career exploration process, systemic and environmental factors that influence career decision-making, facilitation practices to engage all learners, and fundamentals for rigorous educational evaluation.

Please join us in celebrating these new Sites!
