pd|hub presents at the 2024 POD Network Conference
Date Posted: Saturday, November 09, 2024
Join Katie Kearns, pd|hub Collections Specialist, and Susanna Calkins, pd|hub Collections Implementation Site Leader, at the 49th Annual POD Network Conference in Chicago. They will lead a lightning talk titled Professional Development Hub: Accelerating adoption of evidence-based practices for PhD career development through interprofessional communities of practice as part of the Graduate Student, Professional Student, and Postdoctoral Scholar Development (GPPD) POD Showcase on Tuesday, November 12 from 10:30-11:45am CT.
During the showcase, Kearns and Calkins will introduce the POD community to the pd|hub Collections, a framework for promoting the diffusion of innovations in graduate and postdoctoral education. They will provide an overview the first pd|hub Collection, Foundations of Career Exploration for PhD Scientists, which consists of five distinct educational models, collectively intended to guide and support graduate students and postdocs as they research and evaluate career possibilities. They will also highlight how Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTLs) can play a key role in advancing this work. By participating in the pd|hub Collections, CTLs can contribute to collaborative innovation, coordinated action, and deepened relationships among professionals in teaching centers, career centers, graduate schools, postdoc offices, and academic units. Further, these silo-spanning relationships can help accelerate dissemination of robust educational practices for the professional development of graduate students and postdocs.
